Sorghum Cookies

  • 3/4 Cup Butter *Softened
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/4 Cup Molasses
  • 1 3/4 Cups Fresh Sorghum Flour *Milled Medium
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
  • Granulated Sugar for Garnish


  1. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, soda, cinnamon, and ginger. In the stand mixer fitted with the cookie paddles and bowl scraper, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well between each addition. Add molasses and mix again.
  3. Add dry ingredients and mix until well combined. The dough should pull away from the bowl. Add additional flour if needed.
  4. Using a cookie scoop, drop dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Dip a fork into sugar and press into each cookies to flatten.
  5. Bake at 375ºF for 6-8 minutes, depending on size. Place on rack to cook.
