Directions
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Mash the Bananas: In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or potato masher until they are smooth and mostly lump-free.
Add Wet Ingredients: Add the mashed bananas to your mixing bowl. Add 2 eggs, vanilla extract, maple syrup, unsweetened applesauce, Greek yogurt, and melted butter. Mix well until all the wet ingredients are combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients: Slowly add fresh milled whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips into the batter until they are evenly distributed.
Pour into Loaf Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly.
Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs (avoid chocolate chips). Baking times may vary, so start checking around the 45-minute mark.
Cool: Once done, remove the banana bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and Serve: When the chocolate banana bread has cooled, slice it into thick, delicious pieces. Enjoy your homemade chocolatey banana goodness!
