Whole Wheat Dog Treats

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups freshly milled soft white wheat flour

  • 1 cup natural organic peanut butter

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1/2 cup water

  • Pinch of salt

  • Pinch of cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. If you are milling your own flour, run your soft white wheat berries through the Harvest Grain Mill on a fine setting for a soft, fresh flour that gives these treats their wholesome texture.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the egg, natural organic peanut butter, water, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, salt, and honey. Mix until smooth and creamy.

  3. Slowly add the flour and mix until you have a thick dough about the consistency of cookie dough. (May be more of a wet cookie dough consistency, add flour slowly till you get desired consistency) The dough whisk from our Sourdough Kit is great for bringing it together.

  4. Lightly flour the NutriMill Silicone Dough Mat and roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with your favorite cookie cutter, then gather the scraps, re-roll, and cut again so nothing goes to waste.

  5. Arrange the treats on a baking sheet lined with NutriMill Cookie Sheet Liners. Bake for about 18 minutes, until golden. Smaller treats bake faster, so keep an eye on them.

  6. Let the treats cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then move them to a wire rack to finish cooling. Store in an airtight container, or freeze a batch for later.
